Every brick on the screen has a number showing how many hits it takes to break. Click them to remove them from the game and start earning cash, then use that cash to buy your first ball.
Once a ball is in play, it bounces automatically and keeps breaking bricks without you clicking anything. Buy more balls and the pace picks up. Upgrade them and the numbers on the bricks start falling faster.
Each level is cleared when every brick is gone. The next level brings tougher bricks that need more hits, which means more cash, more upgrades and more balls on screen. Each level helps you earn more so you can buy more balls and break bricks faster.
There are 6 balls to unlock in Idle Breakout. Each one hits differently, so choosing which to buy next is one of the biggest choices you make. Each time you buy the same ball again, its price goes up.
| Ball | Initial price | What it does |
| Basic Ball | $25 | Bounces around and breaks bricks it hits |
| Plasma Ball | $200 | Hits one brick and damages nearby bricks too |
| Sniper Ball | $1,500 | Aims for the closest brick instead of bouncing around |
| Scatter Ball | $10,000 | Splits into smaller balls when it hits a brick |
| Cannonball | $75,000 | Smashes through weaker bricks |
| Poison Ball | $75,000 | Poisons bricks so every ball hurts them more |
Power-ups help you break bricks faster for 30 seconds. You unlock them by breaking more bricks, starting at 600 bricks, then 1,200 bricks and higher.
You can only use each power-up once before your next prestige, so save them for Boss Bricks or levels that slow you down.
Prestige means starting over so you can earn faster next time. Your level and cash go back to zero, but you earn gold for permanent perks. There are 5 prestige perks to unlock, each one a permanent upgrade that carries into every future run.
You only get gold every 20 levels, so deciding when to reset and which perk to buy first is one of the bigger decisions in the game.
| Prestige | Cost | What it does |
| Level Complete Cash Bonus | 2 gold | Earn extra cash each time a level is cleared |
| Ball Speed Increase | 5 gold | Makes all balls move faster |
| Ball Power Multiplier | 5 gold | Increases the damage all balls deal |
| Unlock VAUS Laser | 10 gold | Adds lasers that deal damage without using balls |
| Maximum Number of Balls | 4 gold | Increase the number of balls you can have at once |
Later on, Idle Breakout adds more ways to grow stronger between levels and runs.
Idle Breakout was created by Kodiqi. It started as a Breakout-style game, then grew into an idle game with upgrades, Boss Bricks, skills and power-ups. The game was first published in January 2019 and is also available as an app on Android and iOS.
